Frequently Asked Questions About Class & Registration

You may find the following information helpful prior to registering for class. This checklist will help you to determine which class is appropriate for you and your pet; vaccinations required; equipment needed; and other useful information.

Class is held indoors, no smoking please.  Please set your cell phones to vibrate.  If you need to take a call, please leave the room.  You will not bring your dog to the first class as this will be a combined class of both puppy and adult students.  Kathy will go over rules and regulations and discuss the theory, terminology and methods during this lesson.  First class will meet at 10 a.m..  Beginning with the second class you will bring your dog and class times are as follows: Puppy class meets at 9 a.m.  /  Adult class  11 a.m.

Classes will have from 4 to 10 students.  Should enrollment be less than 4, we reserve the right to cancel class.  If this were to happen, all class fees will be refunded.

If you are unable to attend this first class, you will need to transfer to the next session of classes. (See Question 4 for more on being absent.)

1.

Which Class Should I Register For?

Register for Puppy class if your dog is 12 weeks to 1 year of age.  If your dog is over a year old, sign up for Adult class.  There are always exceptions.  Some dogs remain puppyish for longer periods of time, just as some mature faster than others.  If you are still in doubt, give us a call 901-386-3232 or email your concerns to pvkpet@pleasantviewpet.com  before you register.

2.

What Vaccinations are Required and How do I Show Proof of Vaccination?

Puppies need to have had their third series of shots for D.H.L.P and Parvo. A Bordetella (single or series). A Rabies vaccination if they are 5 months or older.

Adults need to have had Rabies, D.H.L.P., Parvo and Bordetella.  Vaccinations must be less than 1 year old. Some vaccinations are good for three years.  We will accept multi-year shots if your paperwork has that noted.

Proof of vaccinations must be faxed to 901-382-1120 no later than 1 week prior to the beginning of class.  Your vet can fax your records for you if you do not have access to a fax machine. (Please specify vaccination dates, not complete records.)

You may bring vaccination records to the office the day of class.  You will not be admitted to class without proof of vaccinations!  ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!

3.

What Training Equipment will I need?

Having the proper tools for the task at hand is important.  We use a 6 foot leash, cotton or leather preferred (No chain or retractable types).  Bring what you are currently using and Kathy will examine it.  Should you need equipment, we have equipment available on line or in store.  Our prices are competitive and our quality is second to none.

You will be furnished with a class booklet containing material and topics to be discussed, so bring a pen or pencil if you want to take notes.

You might also want to bring water bowl or dish.  No glass please.  A small butter dish or a zip lock with ice cubes works well.

4.

What Happens if I Miss a Class?

Life is what happens while we have made other plans.  If you must miss a class, let us know as soon as you can so other arrangements can be made.

If you miss the first class, you will need to move to a later series.  We will be glad to move you a later session date at no charge. (Within one year of original class date.)

5.

What if I need to drop out or don't like the class?

If you drop out of before the start of your first class, you have the option of transferring to a later series (within one year of original class date) or a complete refund of class fees.

If you attend the first class session and and decide this class is not for you, you may drop out and receive a refund of class fees less $25.00.  Should you drop out for any reason after the second class, only credit toward a later session will be given. (This credit must be used within one year from the start of the original class.)

We do not refund or credit for equipment that has been used, unless it is defective in workmanship. This does not mean misused or chewed.
